July 2015 --Closer to home this time ...

Mid-winter is a good time for outback travel, avoiding both the heat and rain. This trip will start in Townsville, 1100km north of home in Brisbane. It will take me west by road along the Overlanders Way some 900km to Mount Isa with only half a dozen towns along the way. On the return leg I will loop south to Winton and explore the Dinosaur Trail, Australia's richest region of pre-historic fossils. Thence back to Townsville and the journey home on the Spirit of Queensland -- our brand new tilt train fitted with airline style bed-seats. Fourteen days of hopefully trouble free exploration.
