Day 30: ASHDOD (JERUSALEM)

My plan for today was to take myself back to Jerusalem and do some further exploring on my own.  Yesterday tired me out, so I indulged in a sleep-in this morning.  By the time I had breakfast etc. it was getting on to mid-morning.  I took the shuttle from the ship in to Ashdod city, to the Sun City Mall near where the bus and rail stations are.  Not at all impressive.  I had been advised on ship not to take
the public bus to Jerusalem, as it is over 2 hours journey, and stops in the middle of the New City -- meaning that one must use taxi or local bus to get to where one wishes.  To go by taxi would be a prohibitive cost unless sharing with 3 other people.  So I abandoned that plan, and thought about taking train to Tel Aviv and looking around there for a while.  But when I saw the timetable, I lost enthusiasm and decided to go back to the ship and just have a lazy day.

Which is what I have done.  A nap, reading, some laps of the exercise track before tea tonight.  The buffet theme tonight was Spanish - and very tasty.  We sail at 10pm for Haifa.  Tomorrow I am booked on a day long tour of Galilee.

A couple of local photos is all I have today - and they are here.
