Cruise Day 2–20 May

Uneventful.  Woke to the mournful sound of the ship’s foghorn; visibility about 200 metres.  And cold: 9C tops.  Like that all day till fog finally lifted about 4pm. The balconies and decks all deserted as everyone settled for indoor activities.  Sea like glass—no sense of movement in ship at all.

Explored the ship.  Was astounded at the size and variety of the Windjammer buffet cafe, where I (over)indulged both breakfast and lunch.  Guilt led me to discover the Fitness Centre right in the bow of the ship, where walking the treadmill gives you a sensation of racing the ship!  20 minutes on treadmill, then on bike made me feel quite righteous!  Formal dinner at night:  so many tuxedos and evening dresses – clearly the seasoned cruisers look forward to dressing up.  (Jacket and tie here.)

Enjoyed the evening Showtime in the Pacifica Theatre that seats nearly 1000 on two levels.  A tribute to the Beach Boys—5 very fine performing young men backed by a 10 piece band.  I waited up to see the sun set at 10.30pm  and then closed the drapes and hit the bed.

Just a couple of pics here.
